It is a procedure made to correct a protruding belly which is a resulting of weak abdominal muscles, weight gain or due to pregnancy
This procedure is common in one of two cases, it’s usually sought by women who have had several pregnancies, or it’s an option for men or women who were once obese and still have excess fat deposits or loose skin around the belly that doesn't respond to diet or exercise.
This surgery can take anywhere from one to five hours. You may need to stay overnight in the hospital, doctor will recommend one of the following two options as the best choice for you. • Complete abdominoplasty; the surgeon will cut your abdomen from hipbone to hipbone and then contour the skin, tissue, and muscle as needed. The surgery will involve moving your belly button, and you may need drainage tubes under your skin for a few days. • Partial or mini abdominoplast: Mini-abdominoplasties are often done on people whose fat deposits are located below the navel. During this procedure, the surgeon most likely will not move your belly button, and the procedure may only take up to two hours.
After a tummy tuck, excess fat and skin are removed, and in most cases, weakened or separated muscles are restored creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer, resulting in a flat and well-toned abdomen.
Dressings are needed for few weeks. You will need to wear a support garment for one to six weeks.
You will be able to do light activities comfortably after around 10 days.
Most people can return to work after two to four weeks, but don’t do any vigorous activity for at least six weeks.
